Snow, ice falls, little elevation gain, only 2 miles roundtrip, and less than one hour from Seattle! Interested? Franklin Falls, here we come! This beautiful hike, located in Snoqualmie, is a must in winter – and not just for ice climbers. No need to be in top shape, this hike is even good for kids. My only advice: bring a pair of shoe crampons. Most people wear basic hiking boots, but crampons will provide a better grip on snow and ice.
This is a very popular hike, so get there EARLY, otherwise parking might be tricky! Also, you don’t want to hike back to your car on icy snow when it’s getting dark. We actually saw people starting the hike at dusk, which is totally not recommended! Not only it’s risky but very cold at night!
